WHAT IS A PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE?
A programming language is an artificial language that a computer understands, it is made up of a series of statements that fit together to form instructions. These instructions tell a computer what to do.
These languages are made up of a set of symbols and syntactic and semantic rules that define their structure and the meaning of their elements and expressions.
The process by which the source code of a computer program is written, tested, debugged, compiled, and maintained is called programming.
Programming languages are designed to be easily understood and written by humans. However, a computer cannot run programs written in these languages directly. Most programming languages must be translated into machine code before the computer can execute the instructions.
Programming helps you communicate with any computer, smartphone, tablet, and since we are in a scenario where we are practically surrounded by them all day, every day.
Some of the most popular programming languages around the world (for now) are, in this order:
- C
- JAVA
- PYTHON
- C++
- C#
- VISUAL BASIC
- JAVASCRIPT
- PHP
- R
- SQL
(Data were taken from “The TIOBE Programming Community”: https://www.tiobe.com/tiobe-index/)
If you are interested in learning to program, I suggest you choose one of the most traditional languages to start in this world, either: Python or JavaScript.
